Marietta Hain passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 14th surrounded by her family. She is survived by her beloved daughter Christina (Peter), grandchildren Andrew, Joshua, and Alexandra, her husband Anton, sisters Elena (Robert) and Elizabeth “Betty” (Paul), and nephews and nieces, George, James (Stephanie), David (Nicole), Charles, and Elizabeth (Joseph), Marie, Cory (Kelly), Beth (Wade), Eddie (Sheila), Amanda (Mirko), Sarah (Dustin), Robert (Kristi), Scott, Jason (Kate), Michael, Kathleen, and Daniel.Though she had one daughter, she was thought of as a mother to many, including many more nieces and nephews. Marietta will be remembered for her unfailingly kind heart and for how she nurtured everyone around her. Showing her love for the people closest to her was what brought her the most joy in life.
As a devoted mother and grandmother “Buni”, she beamed when she spoke about her family and was so proud of their many accomplishments. Her love for them was and is endless. As a sister and protector, Marietta helped to raise her younger sisters through challenging times, and was a right hand helper to her own mother. As an aunt, she spoiled all the “cousins” with sweet words, loving experiences, thoughtful gifts, and she looked over her nephews and nieces as if they were her own.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed sharing her Romanian heritage with the next generation of family and new friends. She loved to take drives with the windows open listening to country radio and was sometimes known for driving a little too fast.
Professionally, Marietta worked as a bank officer and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and an active community member in her city of Lake Zurich, Illinois. Her family and friends know that Marietta was a gifted pastry chef! She perfected her delicious recipes from the tiniest, sweetest cookies to ornate, glamorous cakes. Her attention to detail was impeccable and her creations truly did taste as good as they looked! Her artistry took form through her confectioneries as well as her crochet skills.
Marietta will be missed for her kind spirit, her love of life and beauty, and the genuine affection she showed for those she loved. May her memory be eternal.
