I sat at my sewing machine this morning to repair a frayed edge on one of my bedsheets thinking about how Aunt Mary would have liked that I fixed the sheet, instead of throwing it away and buying a new one. And I remember how she and my mom, her sister Barbara, taught me and Paula how to sew. That was one of the best things we could learn! Such a valuable skill, that I put to use quite often. Aunt Mary and my mom can sew anything. They could look at a dress in a store come home the next day and make it themselves. Not only that, they could upholster couches, cover chairs, and make curtains and anything else that they needed. I appreciate the time and patience it took to teach me how to sew and I'll always remember my teachers.

Aunt Mary was an important part of my husband's Tommy's youth. As a young man decerning what to do with his life, aunt Mary along with his mother Barbara, strongly encouraged Tom to go to college. This is probably what Tom needed and has provided him with a satisfying, life long career.
As I type this, I'm wearing the apron Aunt Mary made for me as a gift when she came out to visit us in Oregon years ago. It's still my favorite apron.
Aunt Mary will be in our prayers as well as our cousins, Paula, Mark and Joey. ❤
