Michael Joseph McGraw

Michael "Mike" McGraw, 70, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, surrounded by his cherished family. A beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, Mike leaves behind a legacy of a generous heart, unwavering loyalty, and an infectious love for life, family, friends, and his adored Chicago Cubs.

Born on May 15, 1955, in Chicago to John McGraw Sr. and Beverly Waldrop McGraw Rasmussen, Mike was a true Chicagoan whose warmth touched everyone he met. For 44 years, he was the devoted husband of Margaret Anderson McGraw, his partner in every adventure. He was a loving father to Megan, Christopher, Peter (Lauren), and Patrick McGraw, and his joy and pride in his children was boundless.

Mike dedicated more than 30 years of his career to the Chicago Department of Aviation at O’Hare International Airport, where he was respected for his hard work, commitment, and camaraderie with colleagues. Even if the job was not always easy, Mike was dedicated to serving his city and found fulfillment in knowing his work supported his family.

Mike is survived by his siblings Sandy (the late Albert) Waight, John Jr. (Debra) McGraw, Scott (Lainee) McGraw, and Daine (Jay) Finucan; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who adored their fun-loving uncle. He was predeceased by his sister Trudy (Arthur) Kraus and his parents. Mike’s friendships were deep and lifelong, marked by shared laughter, long calls catching up, and his knack for making everyone feel like family.

A celebration of life for Michael will be held Friday, October 17, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home, 6901 West Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60634. A memorial mass will occur Saturday at 10am October 18, 2025 at St. Ferdinand Church, 5900 W Barry Ave, Chicago, IL 60634.
