on July 17th, 2024.
She was born in Chicago on August 8th, 1930 to father Charles Aloysius Monahan and mother
Frances Louise McKiernan. She attended Immaculate Conception Elementary School followed
by William Howard Taft High School for 3 years and then graduated from Lake View High
School in May of 1948.
Nanette met the love of her life in 1949 when Richard drove her and other unmarried women
home after a rehearsal dinner they both attended. Richard always said it was love at first sight
and that is why Nanette was the last to be dropped off at her home that night. Their first date
was within a week and they married within a year on August 5th, 1950 in Chicago. They were
married for 62 years.
Nanette and Richard had six children; Richard, Cathleen, James, Lawrence, Diane, and Sandra.
21 grandchildren with many more in her heart. 17 great grandchildren with one on the way and
again with many more in her heart. She loved nothing more than being surrounded by her ever
growing family.
Nanette will always be remembered for her ability to make quick friends with anyone, even on
the way out of a restaurant. How she was always a storyteller and happy to share. She loved all
things Betty Boop, pansies and a good game of cards. Later in life, her and Richard enjoyed
many summers spent at their lake house surrounded by family and friends.
While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing she is with her husband Richard
and her daughter Cathleen who preceded her in death. She is survived by her remaining
children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many more loved ones.
A funeral gathering for Nanette will be held Saturday August 31, 2024 at St. Elizabeth of The
Trinity located at 6020 W. Ardmore Chicago, IL. 60646. Observance starting at 10am with mass
starting at 11am. Followed by interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery located at Belmont and N.
Cumberland, River Grove, IL 60171. Luncheon to follow.
