

Nathan Edward Stowell, 45; born in Albuquerque, NM, raised in Chicago’s Bucktown neighborhood and in Hinsdale, IL; passed away unexpectedly February 6, 2023, at home in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood.
After graduating from Hinsdale South High School, Nathan worked as a bike messenger in Chicago. An athletic outdoorsman, Nathan literally blazed new hiking trails and maintained others in Montana’s wilderness areas, hiking in with pack mules and shovels, He was youngest person to win Chicago’s 1999 bike messenger race. Nathan studied environmental science and photography at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
In 2002, a devastating car accident and spinal cord injury changed the course of Nathan's life. Although he endured multiple surgeries and procedures over the last two decades, Nathan managed to attend many festivals and concerts and lived independently at Anixter Center apartments. He loved photographing the beauty of the Lincoln Park Conservatory, music, science fiction, and snorkeling when he visited his family’s home in Mexico.
Beloved son of Richard Paul Stowell of Chicago and Susan Jeanne (William Kinney) Stowell (nee Farris) of New Mexico. Adored step-son of Michelle Weinberg, grandson of Janice Young Stowell.
Dear brother of Aaron (Emily Magruder) Stowell, step-brother of Rosaaen “Rosie” Brisben and Meghan Kinney. Very proud uncle of Rowan Storm Stowell and Dorian Hawke Stowell.
Nephew of Susan (Nicholas) Pritzker, David (George Black) Stowell, Randy Farris and Steve Farris. Cousin of Joseph “Joby” Benjamin (Jacqueline) Pritzker, Regan (Chris Olin) Pritzker, Jacob Nicholas (Jennifer Jones) Pritzker, and Isaac Edward (Erin) Pritzker. He is also deeply missed by the extended Kinney family.
Preceded in death by grandparents Edward “Ted” Stowell and Verna Marie Farris.
