Nydia C. Reyes, known to her loved ones as Mama Niche, peacefully passed away on April 28, 2024, in Edmond, Oklahoma, at the age of 95. She was born on January 20, 1929, in Manti, Puerto Rico. She loved to spend time with family, read her Bible and recite scriptures, eat her favorite food crab legs, talking on the phone with family members and just loved life.
Nydia is survived by her son Juan Reyes Jr. and wife Norma Reyes, along with her cherished grandkids: Juan Reyes III and wife Debbie Reyes, Nancy Molitor and husband Ed Molitor and Cynthia Reyes-Padjen and husband Christian Padjen and great-grandkids Maddie Molitor, EJ Molitor, Christian Luca Padjen and Victoria Padjen. Daughter Lydia Rivera and Husband Hector Rivera. She is also survived by her, Sister Elvira Candelaria, nieces Betsaida Martinez and Zulma Ivette Martinez, nephew Jose Agosto, nieces Naomi Agosto, Nereida Agosto, and Martha Agosto, nephew Felix Candelaria Jr., niece Luz Lissette Candelaria (Lucy), nephew Jose Orlando Candelaria, and niece Dinorah Candelaria. Nydia was preceded in death by her Husband, Juan Reyes Sr. (Papi Nito), Sister Nelida Agosto Brother Felix Candelaria (Felito), nephew Juan Agosto, and niece Esther Agosto.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Nydia's life will be held at Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home at 6901 W. Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60634, Her burial service will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park, 30W730 US-20, Elgin, IL 60120.
Nydia will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
