With heavy hearts and loving memories, we announce the passing of Pablo Viscarra, who passed away peacefully at home following a courageous battle with cancer on October 22, 2026, at the age of 83. Pablo was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, cherished brother, and dear friend whose kindness, humor, and generosity touched the lives of everyone who knew him.
Born on March 20, 1943, in Durango, Mexico, Pablo was the beloved son of Maria Del Rosario and Cruz Viscarra. Throughout his life, he carried with him the values of family, hard work, and compassion, building a life centered around the people he loved most.
On August 30, 1969, in Chicago, Illinois, Pablo married the love of his life, Celia Avitua. Together, they shared 57 wonderful years of marriage, raising three children and creating a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Their enduring partnership was a beautiful example of devotion, companionship, and commitment to family.
Pablo dedicated 38 years of his professional life to Safety-Kleen, where he worked as a lead before retiring in 2006. His years of service reflected his strong work ethic, dedication, and commitment to providing for his family.
Beyond his career, Pablo found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He especially enjoyed taking walks with his beloved wife through their Andersonville neighborhood in Chicago. These everyday moments reflected the love and companionship they shared throughout their many years together.
Pablo will always be remembered for his quick wit, warm smile, and wonderful sense of humor. He was always ready with a joke to brighten someone’s day and had a special gift for making those around him feel welcomed, appreciated, and loved. His kindness, generosity, and joyful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Above all, Pablo treasured his family. He took great pride in his children and six grandchildren, who brought tremendous happiness and meaning to his life. The love he shared with his family, the laughter he brought into their lives, and the memories they created together will forever remain in their hearts.
Pablo is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Celia Viscarra; his three children, Rosi (Vince), Arturo, and Luis (Amanda); and his six cherished grandchildren, Anthony, Sofia, Alaina, Alyssa, Liana, and Gabriel. He is also survived by his loving siblings, Josefa, Luisa, Guadalupe (Lupe), and Manuel, along with many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maria Del Rosario and Cruz Viscarra, as well as Acencion Viscarra, Anita Fernandez, and Jose Angel Viscarra.
Although Pablo’s passing leaves an immeasurable emptiness in the hearts of those who loved him, his legacy lives on through the family he raised, the love he shared, and the countless memories he leaves behind.
