

Paul Stewart Rogers was born June 24, 1946 to Ardell and Elizabeth Rogers in Chicago, Illinois. He was the second oldest of four children. His parents and a sister preceded him in death. Paul spent his childhood in Chicago, Illinois, where he attended Carver High School. He accepted Christ at an early age. After graduating high school in 1964, he was drafted in the United States Army and served 2 years in Vietnam. Paul also served 20 years in the Army Reserve and ended his military career as 1st Lieutenant.Paul’s first marriage was to Sharon Raphael, and to this union one child was born. He left Chicago, Illinois and moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, where he pursued his educational studies. As a result, Paul earned the following credentials: Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Registered Nurse and Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Psychiatry. Paul spent the majority of his career at the VA Medical Center in New Orleans. During his career at the VA Medical Center, he held many positions: Medical Social Worker, Program Coordinator, Social Work Supervisor and Associate Director of Administration, which was the position he held until his retirement. Paul was also involved in teaching, supervising and lecturing in the community. He married Evelyn Bennett in 2002. Paul moved back to Chicago, Illinois in 2006. While in Chicago, he completed his Doctorate of Psychology in August 2009.Paul departed this life on November 16, 2009. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Evelyn B. Rogers of Chicago, Illinois; his daughter, Ava L. Rogers of Juba, Sudan; his step-daughter, Erica L. Turner of Fayette, Mississippi; his two siblings: Linda Rogers of Chicago, Illinois and Michael Rogers of Oakland, California and his nieces and nephews: David Rogers, Kelly Rogers and Nicole Colston of California; Elizabeth Powell of Houston, Texas; Jason Morgan and Karen Morgan of Chicago, and a host of other relatives and friends.
