In recognition of Rachel who made the most out of life, the family of Rachel Iris Leon announces her passing on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at the age of 44 years old.

Rachel was a strong and outgoing person who enjoyed being with her family, friends and also meeting new people, both friends and strangers alike. Over the years, Rachel set goals and wishes which she was able to achieve and accomplished with her children. She was renowned for her motivation, extreme kindness, funny sense of humor, and always keeping her calm under the most stressful situations.

Rachel was endlessly proud of her children, parents, siblings and loved to share all of their successes…and, hopefully, bested everyone else’s stories. She had a beautiful sense of fashion and flair for style. One of her favorite pastimes was traveling, shopping for clothes, accessories, and going out to eat at restaurants. She also loved sports, especially baseball and liked to take her daughter Natalie to Wrigley Field Stadium to watch her beloved Chicago Cubs play.

Rachel was a devoted Religious person whose faith upheld her throughout life’s many ups and downs. She used her “direct line” to Heaven (via her prayers) to intercede on behalf of her loved ones. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the tender embrace of the Lord.

Rachel will be lovingly remembered by her children, Nathan, Joshua, Natalie and their father Tiburcio Gonzalez; her Mother and Father, Norma and Juan Leon; her brothers Ruben and Ryan Leon; her Grandmother, Nelly Ojeda; her sister in-laws; and all her nieces and nephews; Renee, Justin, Ethan, Ellie, and Leilani Leon; her Aunts, Rachel, Lourdes, and Iris Leon; her Uncle Louis Leon; her cousins, Monica, Vanessa Leon and Anthony Ross. Rachel will also be remembered by her extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations towards Rachel's children; As Rachel would always say, Thank you so much.

I have too many beautiful memories but these are some of my favorites that we had together. Sleepovers (your house was the only house my mom would let me stay over), our first together trip when we flew to Florida at 16 yr to stay with your aunt and getting so sunburnt it hurt to move, and of course just sitting in the front stairs of Albany enjoying our limbe that Mama Nelly had made...it was all just so great. I love you Rachel♥️

It's funny how time fly by as I met Rachel in Oct 2008 shortly after buying my house. She a sweet kind so spoken women and I told her I was moving in the unit upstairs and I didn't know to many people not being from Chicago. However didn't know I would become seriously ill days later and my parents and I would have to leave everything I owned in Chicago. But, there was Rachel and her family with open arms to make sure I was ok when I return. We had some great times at Galewood and I will miss you Rachel. But, God has a beautiful Angel, Person, and Mother!!! My heart goes out to the entire family during this great loss. May God help you through your time in need!
