Richard Warren Chase, 73, of Chicago, passed away last Saturday October 21. He is survived by his loving family: Gail Chase, Lauren (Mason) Ishii, Brandon (Herminia) Chase, Kara (Adam) Layton, brother-in-law Charlie Falkowski and nephew Jay Falkowski, Aunt Helen and Uncle John Poplar, and dear cousins.
He was a proud Papa to Malorie, Mason Jr., Madison, Elena and Mari. Rich was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Betty Chase, and siblings Billy, Glenn, Ricky and Linda.
He was a close friend to many and beloved by all for his willingness to lend a helping hand, fix a light, share in a joke (usually a dirty one), or catch up over a beer.
Rich was a proud man and wore his pride on his literal vest, whether it was for his two tours of service in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, his unwavering — albeit sometimes painful — commitment to his favorite Chicago teams (Go Bears! Go White Sox!), or his constant support of his children and grandchildren’s various sports and academic endeavors.
While words can’t quite encompass the impact he made on so many, it is safe to say that he will be missed dearly.
Though his death was unexpected, the love that the family has been embraced with since his passing was not. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you.
When you pass a Harley Store in your travels, cheer on the Bears or Sox, or see any one of his incredible children and grandchildren, please remember him fondly. And the next time you’re at the Bubble, have a drink for him.
Friends and family will gather for a visitation for Rich on Sunday, October 29 from 12-6 PM with a service taking place at 4:30, at Drake and Son Funeral Home located at 5303 N. Western Ave, Chicago, IL, 60625.
