Richard Joseph Schalin

Richard Joseph Schalin, 81, passed away on Friday January 22nd 2016 and has now rejoined his beloved wife Josi who predeceased him. Rich served honorably in the US Navy and traveled the world. He enjoyed golfing, boating, fishing and working on his home. He especially liked working out in his yard and garden. He was a devoted husband to Josi (Josephine) Schalin, his wife of 43 years, whom he never stopped missing, a fantastic Father to Rich Schalin Jr. (Michele), Dan Schalin (Maggie), and his baby girl Karen Dandino (Bob). He was a generous and loving Grandfather to Richie Schalin, Heather Schalin, Bobby Dandino, Jimmy Dandino and Lee Schalin. He was a loving Brother to James Gunnar Schalin. Not only was Rich an exceptional Husband, Brother, Father and Grandfather, he was a wonderful person always ready with kind words, a smile, and help for all who crossed his path. He adored his Mother and his family and was always there for them. He was a true friend and will be missed immensely. A wake will be held at Drake & Son Funeral Home, 5303 N. Western Ave. Chicago IL 60625 on Wednesday February 3rd from 3-9 PM. Final Visitation will be from 10-12 on Thursday the 4th, with burial to follow at Rosehill Cemetery.
