Richard Yonan, affectionately known to family and friends as "Sonny" and "Rocky," passed away on July 29, 2026, leaving a legacy of love, strength, and devotion. He was a man who dedicated his life to his country, his passions, and above all, his family.
A proud military veteran, Richard served his country with honor and distinction. The discipline, bravery, and patriotism he carried from his time in the service shaped the remarkable man, father, and friend he was throughout his life.
Beyond his dedication to his country, Richard had a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature, finding immense joy and tranquility in his love for birds. Whether watching them soar or listening to their songs, he found a unique peace in the natural world.
Richard’s greatest joy, however, was his family. He is now reunited with his beloved late wife, Susan Yonan, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love. His memory and spirit will live on vibrantly through their three children: Lawrence “Champ,” Samantha “Little Baby,” and Sarah “#1”Colvin. He poured his heart into his family, and his guidance, warmth, and affection will continue to guide them.
