

He was a lifelong Chicagoan, a graduate of Lane Tech High School and Fontbonne University. Riley received his Master's Degree from DePaul University’s Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development.
Riley was proud to be an employee at CDOT and dedicated his career to making streets safer for all who called Chicago home.
He will be remembered as a kind, passionate, loving, and hardworking young man. Riley’s family is devastated by this insurmountable loss, but will be forever proud and comforted by the legacy he has left behind.
Riley leaves behind his parents, Colleen and Rusty O’Neil; his brother, Reid O’Neil; his grandmother, Gloria Williams; and his girlfriend, Austin Shipman. Riley is further survived by three uncles, Michael (Diana), Tim (LeeAnne), and Patrick (Christina); five aunts, Debra ( Robert), Bonnie (Richard), Jennifer, Molly (Al), and Carolyn; along with numerous beloved cousins.
Riley was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Henry “Dude” and Lillian Paschen; his grandparents, Robert and Marjorie O’Neil, and Thomas and Inez McNulty; as well as two uncles Robert and Richard O’Neil
A visitation for Riley will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 from 10:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm at Drake & Son Funeral Home (5303 N. Western, Chicago, IL 60625). Riley, at a later date, will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery with his family.
