Good morning,

My name is Leila, and I am Daee Hossain’s niece from Rome.

I was deeply saddened to hear of my uncle’s passing. He was such a charismatic person, a central figure in our family, and someone whose kindness and warmth touched everyone around him.

I will always remember how he welcomed me to Chicago as if I were his own daughter. He and his family were incredibly generous and loving, and their hospitality meant so much to me.

My mother loved him dearly, and his loss is truly heartbreaking for all of us.

I am comforted by the thought that, in a better place, all the members of our family who have left us will finally be reunited once again.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences and know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.

Uncle Hossein was the youngest of seven. And the last to go.

He was five years old when his mother died — taken suddenly, after what should have been a simple operation. Nobody told him she was not coming back. He waited, the way children do. And something of that waiting never quite left him. Those who loved him could see it in his eyes — a quiet, lasting sadness, the kind that comes from losing someone too early and too suddenly.

He grew up in a big, warm household, raised by a father who refused to let grief win. That home was full of children, full of noise, full of love. From that place, Uncle Hossein learned something he carried his whole life — to give without counting, to love without conditions.

He lived most of his life far from home, but he never lost a single word of his Persian. No English, no French ever crept in. Just the language of his childhood, pure and intact. That was him. He held on to what mattered.

He had a great sense of humor. He made people laugh. He made people dream. We remember him with his motorbikes, his passion for cars, his stories of America — he made the world feel bigger and closer at the same time. And through all of it, he stayed humble. His success never changed who he was. He remained simple, generous, honest, and true.

He was always there when someone needed him. Always. He showed up, quietly and without fuss, at every difficult moment. He was a man of great kindness and integrity. Life tested him many times, and every time, he came out not bitter, but stronger.

He never lost his innocence. That was perhaps his most beautiful quality.

In his final months, illness made it harder and harder to reach him. But those who loved him understood. Some connections don’t need words.

May your soul rest in peace dear uncle Hossein. I will terribly miss you.

Ron and I have known Robert for many decades. He was a good man. We will miss him.

Sorry to hear about your loss Dot, I never knew him but he seemed like a good man. It has been a long time since our trip to Peru together. May the guardian angels watch over you during this difficult time. Take care.
