

Robert Hossain Yassan, age 87, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, in Chicago. He was born Hossain Yassan on March 12, 1939, in Tehran, Iran, and later adopted the name Robert after coming to the United States.
Robert lived a remarkable and accomplished life defined by intelligence, humor, generosity, hard work, and devotion to his family. He shared a loving marriage of more than 50 years with his wife, Dorothy, and together they built a family filled with warmth, laughter, and lasting memories.
Those who knew Robert will remember his charismatic personality, quick wit, and gift for conversation. He had a natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life and got along well with everyone he met. Robert was also deeply generous, always willing to help others and share what he had.
A lifelong learner, Robert studied pharmacy in France and, after moving to Chicago, earned a degree in engineering. An entrepreneur with strong vision and determination, he and his wife founded RANY Management, LLC, a successful real estate company that reflected his dedication and work ethic.
Robert had a deep appreciation for the world around him. He loved plants and took great joy in caring for them, finding peace and happiness in nature. Over the years, he cared for numerous dogs, most of them German Shepherds, and later shared a special bond with his cat, Lovey, who brought him comfort and companionship.
Gifted with a remarkable talent for language, Robert spoke many languages, including Farsi, English, French, and Spanish. His ability to connect with people from many backgrounds reflected both his intellect and his interest in different cultures.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Dorothy; his children, Rebecca (Jerry Manta), Nicholas, and Andrew (Lindsay); and his grandchildren, Melissa, Sofia, Christian, Aidan, Cecilia, and Benjamin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ali Gholi and Ahoo Yassan, and his siblings, Manouchehr, Mehrangiz, Ali Akbar, Afsar, Effat, and Ehteram.
Robert will be remembered for his warmth, humor, generosity, wisdom, and the joy he brought to those around him. His legacy lives on through his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Drake & Son Funeral Home, 5303 North Western Ave, Chicago, IL.
