Born in Corozal, Puerto Rico, on November 20, 1953, Roberto was the ninth of 13 children born to Francisco Mojica and Angela Rosado. In 1972, he left Corozal for Chicago.
In 1974, Roberto married Veronica Morales, with whom he had two children, Francisco and Jannette. After their divorce in 1987, he met Ana Maria Torres. They married in 1989 and welcomed two children, Giovanni and Anais, shortly after.
Roberto worked at the former Cooper Lighting in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, for years and at Target in Florida for nearly two decades. After a brief stay in Puerto Rico, he and Ana Maria raised their family in Homestead, Florida. He lived in Florida for 32 years before returning to the Chicago area in June 2026 to be near his other three children and several siblings.
Roberto is survived by his four children: Francisco Javier Mojica (Imelda), Jannette Castro (Omar), Roberto Giovanni Mojica (Julianne), and Anais Mojica (Jonathan). He was a proud grandfather to Gabriel, Jocelyn, Giancarlo, Naydalise, and Ana Maria.
He is also survived by his siblings German, Angel, William, Carmen, Gloria, Francisco, Alfredo, Raul, and Sonia, as well as more than 30 nieces and nephews. He was deeply loved by his extended family and many others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco Mojica and Angela Rosado; his beloved wife, Ana Maria Mojica Torres; his sister, Margarita Vazquez; and his brothers, Victor Mojica and Antonio Mojica.
Roberto was a devout Seventh-day Adventist who served as a deacon and an elder at his church in Homestead. His faith guided the way he lived, cared for others, and cherished time with his brothers and sisters.
A devoted family man, Roberto treasured every moment with his loved ones. He was also a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan who remained loyal through every victory and defeat and was known to yell at the television when the team let a game or series slip away, even while rewatching the triumphant 2016 season already knowing the outcome.
Roberto had a special affection for animals, particularly the stray cats he lovingly fed and cared for in his Homestead neighborhood. Whether spending time with family, cheering for the Cubs, playing or watching sports, or showing kindness to an animal in need, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures.
Roberto will be remembered for his unwavering faith, devotion to family, warm humor, and kindness toward others. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and in the countless moments and traditions they shared
