Roger Fred Mielke

Roger Fred Mielke, age 89, of Downers Grove. A Veteran of The Army Corp. of Engineers, was born in Chicago on October 22, 1935 and went home to Heaven with all of his loved ones who preceded him, on Thursday, February 27, 2025. Roger was the most loving husband of Rosemary nee Engel; loving father of Lara (Fred) Gusel and Sandra (Giuseppe) Gentile; devout grandfather of Audrey, Ava, Sofia and Antonino; dear son of the late Fred & Mildred Mielke; cherished son-in-law of the late William & Margaret Engel; beloved brother-in-law; unforgettable uncle; and fond friend of many.

Roger will hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew him as a protector, a father-figure, or a Grandfather. Whether at swim meets, softball games, gymnastics meets or hockey games, his unwavering support and kind spirit left an indelible mark. He will always be remembered as family, cherished, and deeply missed.

Roger will also be remembered for his incredible generosity, warmth, witt and commitment to those he loved. His life was defined by his devotion to his family. He will be remembered for his love of cheese cake, fishing, cars, sports, smoking his pipe and most of all, his faith in God.
