Romulo Blanco Geverola, “Romy”, 72, mechanical engineer and designer; of Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood, formerly of Uptown; born in Cebu, Philippines on September 20, 1949; passed away August 17, 2022.
Romy earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Cebu Technological University (CTU) before immigrating to the United States. His vast knowledge and love for engineering would earn him a brief stint as an adjunct instructor at Oakton Community College, where he taught AutoCAD classes. Having held positions at Adams Elevator Company and Vapor/Mark IV over his career, he retired from Riddell, where he designed and engineered football helmets for the NFL and college teams. He will forever be remembered as a smiling, jovial man who loved golf, karaoke, and his family.
Beloved spouse of 46 years of Arcadia Gempesao Geverola; devoted father of Ramil (Latasha), Raquel (Timothy Kraemer), and Jose Romulo “Jay” (Andrea) Geverola; very proud grandfather (“Papa”) of Ramil, Jr., London, and Dante Geverola.
Dear brother of Lydia Blanco, Ludivina Marifosque, and Dionisio (Bernadette) Geverola, Jr.; he leaves behind a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Son of the late Dionisio Geverola and Godelina Blanco Geverola.
Visitation is Wednesday, August 24, 4-8pm, at Drake & Son Funeral Home, 5303 N. Western Ave, Chicago, 60625. Funeral service is Thursday, August 25, 10:30am at the funeral home, followed by burial at Rosehill Cemetery.
