Born in Chicago, Illinois, on September 2, 1942, Rosalie lived a life defined by faith, intellect, and an abiding curiosity about the world. She was a proud graduate of Loyola University, where she earned a degree in History in 1964 and where she met her future husband, Tom, with whom she would share 59 years of marriage.
Rosalie built a respected career as a pension plan consultant with Kravitz & Associates in Los Angeles, where she brought precision, sound judgment, and genuine care to the work of helping others secure their futures. Colleagues knew her as thorough, principled, and unfailingly gracious.
Beyond her professional life, Rosalie was a woman of wide-ranging passions. An intrepid traveler, she journeyed across the globe. Above all, she treasured her visits to St. Petersburg and her voyages to Antarctica, experiences she recounted with delight for years afterward. She followed politics and current events with a keen and discerning eye, and she was never without a well-formed opinion or the willingness to defend it. A devoted Catholic, she drew strength and comfort from her faith throughout her life. She was also a passionate sports fan and a lifelong devotee of the Green Bay Packers, cheering them through every season with the loyalty that only a true fan can muster.
Rosalie's greatest joy, however, was her family. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Christopher, and daughter-in-law, Danielle; her cherished grandchildren, Clara and Aidan; and her sister, Theresa Ek, as well as many nieces and nephews. Her warmth, wit, and steadfast devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas; her parents, Henry and Mildred (Novak) Zappa; her brother, Bernard Zappa; and her brother-in-law, Bill Ek.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at Malec & Sons Funeral Home in Chicago, Illinois beginning at 10:00 a.m. A chapel service will follow nearby at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery at 11:30 a.m., with interment immediately thereafter.
