It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rosario Bonaccorso, who passed away after a courageous battle with metastatic prostate cancer on July 4, 2026 at the age of 85 in Chicago, Illinois.
He is survived by his children Matthew and Joseph (Tera), granddaughter Avery, and his sister Maria Roman, as well as his nieces Maria and Jennifer, and his nephew, Daniel. He was preceded in death by his beloved brother Filippo Bonaccorso (Rosa).
Born on February 9, 1941, in Vicari, Italy, Rosario was the beloved son of Giuseppa Greco and Mateo Bonaccorso. Rosario spent his early life in Venezuela working multiple jobs and mastering the Italian, Spanish, and English languages all while supporting his family’s migration to the United States in 1971. Rosario made a career working as a barber, landlord and caregiver for his family.
Outside of work, Rosario had a passion for dancing and cooking. Whether it was cooking his homemade pasta sauce and minestrone for close friends and family, tending to his fresh produce in the garden, or dancing the night away amongst friends, everyone found great joy in the time spent in his company and always knew a great meal was guaranteed.
Rosario will be laid to eternal rest at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Mausoleum on Friday July 10, 2026 at 10:00am at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL.
Though he will be deeply missed, his love, guidance, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Committal Prayers & Entombment will be held at All Saints Cemetery, 700 N River Rd, Des Plaines, IL 60016, US, on July 10, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
