Having lost my mother, Dolores (Sorel) Langheld in August of 2019, I would like to share my deepest condolences to all those who have lost Auntie Rosie.

I regret that I have not been in contact with my extended Polish family community for many years.

My fond memories, and those that I tell others of often, are the wonderfully festive events for graduations, wedding showers, baby showers,  weddings, etc with our then, primarily Chicago-based relatives. My mother so loved to dance and often did so with her aunts and cousins. My father was not a dancer, and I was often too afraid to embarrass myself. Thus, my Mom would coax me out near the end of the event and, of course, I would have great fun. Also for the bunny hop, Hokey Pokey, etc. Not to mention the wonderful food and beverages of all kinds. Then my Dad would agree to dance to Let Me Call you Sweetheart with my Mom.

When my mother was in a nursing home prior to her passing, my husband, Tom and I would take her outside so that I could get my brothers on speakerphone, and/or play old favorite dance music and wait to see if I chose correctly by noting if she tapped her foot or attempted to sing along.

I recall many of the "Aunties" who had their specially recognized attributes: Auntie Rosie always had lovely blond hair that she kept cut and styled to a tee, Auntie Annie was the pierogi maker, and aunt Vernie the Kolaches maker; if my memory serves me correctly. 

Auntie Rosie was also devoted to and proud of her children, even relocating in her later years to be close to Frankie, who had special needs. I remember Bernice, Cookie, and Jimmy fondly as well.

Auntie Rosie was very good to my mother Sophie Woldanski  Dreja.  She visited my mom in the TB Sanitorium and gave her stamps and writing paper and envelopes.  She drove mom's four children to visit in Manteno, Il and then treated us to White Castle. 
 I visited her in Bradley and in the nursing home.  She was very appreciative that my grandson, Darin, drove us to see her son Frankie and then out to dinner. 
Recently we kept in touch by phone and mail.  She always ended with prayers for my family.  

My favorite auntie for driving us to the lake to go swimming.  She gave me many haircuts. We had so much fun and I remember her video taping  JFK funeral. She and her sister, my mother Annie, were super tight and still having their differences.  I kept up with auntie rose by calling her and exchanging letters. Loved her so much. She was still sharp as a tack. Loved that lady and will miss her til I see her again !!  

1970 Auntie Rosie, Auntie Shirley & Auntie Stella were my visitors when I came out of surgery, 3 fairy godmothers like Disneys ones in Sleeping Beauty. 1973 Auntie Rosie and my dad at my wedding they mugged for the photographer and did a fast dramatic polka like they were kids. 1980 something Auntie Rosie surprise planned a party for my dads bday and my parents anniversary.  She commandeered all the remaining living aunts and uncles. Uncle Tony even came in from LA & Auntie Rosie Chili Pepper from Az.  It was the last time they were all together.  After my mom died Auntie Rosie would visit my dad.  Sometimes kebasa, sometimes potato bread, sometimes a small ham and apple slices.  She kept him in check!  Like magic.  Well they are all together now. I wonder what they're saying(Covid BS...we all survived 1918-19 if we beat it so can you!)

The Czarnecki family sends sincere sympathy to the Bartczak family! Auntie Rosie was always very kind to Kevin and our family! The end of an era! Rest in peace!
