

Salomi Franklin, 74, passed away on May 4, 2026. Born on April 12, 1952, Salomi will be remembered as a beloved and cherished. Her life reflected a compassionate, kind-hearted way of moving through the world, marked by empathy and a selfless instinct to put others at ease and to look out for them.
A strong woman of faith, Salomi consistently wanted the best for everyone, and her care for others was not simply something she felt—it was something she lived. Whether offering encouragement, lending a hand, or simply showing up with warmth and attention, she carried herself with a gentle strength that made people feel seen, supported, and valued.
Salomi found joy in the everyday gifts of life. She loved cooking and gardening, taking pride in the comfort of a good meal and the patient beauty of things grown with care. She also enjoyed teaching, sharing what she knew with a giving heart. She delighted in dogs and the happiness they bring, and she loved shopping.
Salomi will be deeply missed by her husband William, her daughter Akanksha (Vinay), her sister Sheela Singh, and many beloved family in the U.S., India, and England.
Friends and family with gather for a visitation at West Ridge Community United Methodist Church, 2301 W Lunt Ave, Chicago, IL 60645, on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. The funeral service will then take place at 11:30 am. Committal will immediately follow at Saint Luke Cemetery, 5300 N Pulaski Rd, Chicago, IL 60630.
