To the O'Neill family - Sheila was one of the most amazing teachers that my children were lucky to have at Northeast.  Her love for teaching and making math fun by using baseball stats or Suduko puzzles engaged my kids.  Her wicked sense of humor and no nonsense approach made her easily one of their favorite teachers.  Her ability to instill that math is fun and can be mastered, I believe is one of the reasons that my son majored in math and my daughter majored in engineering.  She had such a profound effect on them and our whole family was truly crushed when we heard of her passing.  Our family was so fortunate to have had her as a formative teacher and role model for our children - thank you for sharing her with so many families and kids. Sheila was the voice of reason, the smartest person in the room.  She made me a better person in our Tommy More days.  May the angels welcome her to paradise.  You are all in my prayers.   My sincere condolences. 

Sheila was a great co worker and friend, and I will miss our get togethers when we would eat and gossip and share stories of family and friends😊 We would laugh as she would tell the waitress her order but ask to take off many of the condiments so there was barely any of the original meal left😆 She always had a way of making a sarcastic comment, but it was funny and not insulting, and it was pure Sheila! She gave me the nickname "the commandant" because she thought I was bossy! I will miss that and her so let's keep those special memories of her so she will stay forever in our 💕

To Michael, the O’Neill boys and the O’Neill and Johnson families.  I was always in awe of Sheila.  She could do anything.  Knit a sweater.  Reupholster a couch.  Raise three crazy boys.  And, most importantly, make a wedding dress for an almost elderly bride.  She did these things so effortlessly and so, so well.  My sympathies and love to you all.  

Mike, the Sulo family is saddened by the news of Sheila’s passing. She was a warrior in life on all fronts for and with your wonderful family. You’re all in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. She’s resting peacefully at last. We worked side by side at Andrew for 24 years. I was so sorry to hear of Sheila’s passing, and I am sorry I can not extend my condolences in person. Sheila was such a wonderful teacher, person and friend.  I can still remember when she started student teaching at Northeast, and I knew right from the start she was a natural teacher.  I was so glad when I was able to hire her as a third grade teacher because I knew she would be an asset to our staff and school.  She never let the students, or the staff down….she gave 100%+ every single day and was truly an asset to our school.  She shared her many talents with all of us and we were always grateful for her creativity.  Anyone who was fortunate to have Sheila as a teacher or as a friend, knew the true meaning of being cared about because she went out of her way to show her love for us each and every day. I know that there is nothing I can say that will take away the pain you are feeling, but please know that you are not grieving alone.  Sheila will be truly missed by everyone who knew her.  I am keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

I remember Shelia at all the baseball, basketball, and football games cheering on our boys.   She was one of the best spectators for St. Thomas More sports teams.  What a great woman!

To The O'Neill Family...our sincerest and deepest condolences.  Sheila fought so hard to be with you all as long as she could. Shelia was the core of the O'Neill family and her loss will be felt forever ever but the Legacy that she leaves her son's , grandchildren and husband Mike will live on forever. She was a special lady and so much fun to be around. We send our heartfelt condolences to Mike and the boy's.

I lost my best friend and hero on Wednesday. She fought so hard to stay alive for her kids and grandchildren.  It was the great honor of my life to be her husband of nearly 50 years and to be her caregiver for the last few months.  She loved us unconditionally. The doctors and nurses at Northwestern and later Christ went way beyond the norm to treat her. She loved them. She was an award winning grammar school teacher who loved her fellow teachers and cherished her students.  I got her to be at least a blue dog Democrat and a White Sox fan. We love you Mema!!
