Shirlee Shatro

Shirlee was a loving mother to Dawn Shatro and Kim (Dale) Vogelsanger. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Bill (Courtney) Vogelsanger, Olivia (Shaun) Scialabba, and Samantha (Mark) Fisher, and a joyful great-grandmother to Laila Powers, Luke Vogelsanger, and Keira Vogelsanger. Shirlee is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Judy Arrasmith and Sue Schneider. She was a cherished aunt to Don (Ann) Arrasmith, Kris (Rick) Septoski, Sydney Septoski, AJ Septoski, Amanda (Matthew) Schlager, and Colleen Arrasmith, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

For more than 40 years, Shirlee was the warm and welcoming face at the front desk of the veterinary hospital where she worked. Generations of clients came to know her kindness, her gentle sense of humor, and the genuine care she showed to every person and pet who walked through the door. Her presence brought comfort, conversation, and a smile to countless days.

Shirlee found joy in life’s simple and beautiful moments. She loved tending to her flower gardens, watching birds of every kind visit her yard, and admiring horses. Above all, she treasured time spent with family and friends, creating memories filled with laughter, stories, and love.

Those who knew Shirlee will remember her warmth, her quiet strength, and the way she made people feel welcome and cared for. Her love lives on in the family she adored and the many lives she touched throughout the years.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visitation will be held at Andrew J. McGann & Sons Funeral Home, 10727 S. Pulaski Road, Chicago, IL on March 18, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Chapel Service will take place at Andrew J McGann & Sons Funeral Home, 10727 S. Pulaski Road, Chicago, IL on March 19, 2026, at 11:00 am.

Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 3401 W. 87th Street, Evergreen Park, IL, on March 19, 2026.
