Shirl “The Pearl” Glaviano was born and raised in Chicago and spent decades as a resident of the Old Town neighborhood alongside her husband Tony and their family before relocating to Plainfield later in life. A colorful and vibrant personality, she and Tony traveled the world after raising seven children. When not jetsetting, Shirley was a successful licensed home daycare provider who cared for countless children spanning three decades.
In addition to loving and caring for her five kitties, Shirley kept her mind sharp by socializing and texting with family and friends. Endlessly curious-minded, Shirley routinely requested people ‘Google up’ information on topics that intrigued her. She loved watching the Chicago sports teams and looked forward to the Olympics.
Shirley was preceded in death by Anthony Glaviano, Sr. and Anthony Glaviano, Jr., her husband and son respectively. She is survived by daughters Pamela Glaviano, Terry (Rande) Matisi, Kimberly (late Joe) Tipre, Jayme Tipre, Jody (J. Aaron) Jewell, and Becky (Carl) Vizzone, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and an extensive list of family and friends.
A memorial celebrating Shirley’s life will be held at Montclair Funeral Home, 6901 West Belmont Avenue, Chicago, IL, on [DATE TBD] from 5 - 8 pm; Inurnment Private.
