Sofia Burbules passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, at the age of 94, surrounded by family. Cherished Daughter of the late George Ores and the late Georgia Ores (nee Veremis); Devoted Wife of Jim C. Burbules; Beloved Mother of Georgia Xamplas, Chris Burbules and Gus Burbules; Adoring Yiayia of James Xamplas (Nicola Rinow), Nicholas Xamplas, Katherine Xamplas and Alexandra Burbules; Darling Great-grandmother of Dean Xamplas; Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by 5 sisters and 1 brother.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2727 W. Winona St., Chicago, IL 60625. A Funeral Mass will follow at the same location at 10:00 am. Interment will be held at Ridgewood Memorial Park Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL.
