Sophie Hrisco

Sophie Hrisco age 101 died peacefully on April 11, 2025 while in Rainbow Hospice care in Chicago, Illinois. Sophie was born at home on January 31, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois to Martin and Mary Mierzwa. She married John Hrisco in 1951, and they had two children, Cynthia and David. Eventually, they settled in Norridge, Illinois.

Sophie worked for Motorola for 40 years as Quality Control Supervisor before retiring. Sophie continued to attend Motorola retiree luncheons for many years. She loved gardening, socializing, and traveling the world exploring many interesting countries and sights and went on seven cruises. She belonged to the Senior Club in Harwood Heights/Norridge and enjoyed playing Bingo.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John, daughter Cynthia Buschauer, and son David Hrisco and four brothers and five sisters.

She is survived by her grandson David Buschauer and many nieces and nephews and special friends Stanley Jendresak and Walter Lindberg and the staff at Amazing Grace Senior Living, Chicago.

Services will be held on April 23, 2025 at St. Rosalie Church, 4401 N. Oak Park Ave., Harwood Heights, IL with viewing at the church beginning at 10 a.m. until Mass at 11 a.m. followed by burial at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles, Illinois.
