Sophie Siuta

Sophie Siuta, age 73, passed away peacefully March 30th surrounded by her loved ones. Loving mom of Elizabeth (John Laskey) Siuta and Brian (Lesley) Siuta. Dear sister of Terri Royce and Halina Jakuc. Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Sophie was preceded in death by her husband Ferdynand, and her brother Edmund. Sophie had an artistic flair, and enjoyed many types of crafts. She designed and stitched beautiful, intricate embroidery which filled her home. Family and friends were kept warm with all manner of expertly knitted clothing. In spite of her talent, Sophie was always humble and will be remembered for her legacy of generosity and kindness.

Sophie had a deep appreciation of nature and in tribute an account has been set up in her name at the Chicago Botanic Garden for a commemoration. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made in her name to the Garden tribute gift program.

Visitation Friday 3-8 PM at Malec and Sons Funeral Home, 6000 N. Milwaukee Ave, Chicago. Funeral prayers Saturday 9 AM at the funeral home followed by a funeral mass at 10 AM at Our Lady of Ransom Church, 8300 N. Greenwood Ave. Niles. Interment St. Adalbert Cemetery.
