Stephen Duane Seitz

Known as “Captain Steve,” he passed away suddenly from complications of knee surgery. Stephen is the son of Janet Seitz Jashinski and the late Roger M. Seitz, former partner at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. He was a general contractor, musician/drummer, and charter sailboat captain, as well as parasail captain in Mexico and Phoenix. He could remodel a barren room to a sleek kitchen or bedroom to perfection. He was an ordained Minister and Coast Guard certified 100-ton vessel captain. He was “our renaissance man”. Stephen attended Evanston Township High School, Ball State University, and University of Illinois, Chicago. Stephen is survived by his adoring fiancée Meaghan Stephan, their daughter Lucille Adrienne Seitz, and Meaghan’s daughter Madelyn Rose Stephan, his devoted mother, his loving sister, Dr. Rochelle Seitz (Dr. Rom Lipcius) and their sons Luc Roger and André Martinas Lipcius of Wiliamsburg, VA; his uncles Marvin (Shirley) Novak of Houston, TX, and their son Travis of South Korea; Dr. Martin (Marilyn) Seitz of Silver Spring, MD, and their children Christian (Chianti) Seitz of Washington D.C. and Amy (Aatif) Hayat of Atlanta, Georgia; Glennon (Geraldine) Seitz of St. Louis and their children Frank (Janet) Seitz, Jessica Seitz (Scott), Theresa (Todd) Forthaus, Prakash (Emily) Seitz; Geoffrey (Valerie) Seitz and daughter Julie (Henry) Albrecht in Florida; and Aunts Natalie (the late Norbert) Ries and their children Mia (Dean Wicklund) Michelle Ries, Norbert Ries Jr.; and Diane (Dr. David) Brunworth of Washington, MO, and their children Dr. Louis (Jennifer) Brunworth, Dr. Joe Brunworth, Martin Brunworth; and his dear daughters from a previous marriage, Alexandra Laine, Samantha Jaide, and Kyra Seitz, and many wonderful second cousins.
