CHICAGO, IL – Trung Ly, age 91, of Chicago, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, April 4,, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born on February 6, 1930, in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, the daughter of Lu Ly and Vuong Thi Ngo. Trung enjoyed cooking, traveling, knitting and sewing, singing, and above all, spending time with family. She was extremely determined and eager to learn; despite her age, she was able to pick up a whole new language after immigrating to the United States in 2002. Trung was an incredibly kind-hearted and caring woman. She loved her family beyond measures. Trung will be missed by many, but most of all by her family. Her memory will live on forever and she is survived by her children, Alain Wong, Kevin Tran, Angela Lee, Callie Tran; sisters, Hai Ly, Lap Ly, Sheung Bik Ly, Thuong Bang Ly; grandchildren, Vivian Wong, Ernest Wong, Jacqueline Truong, Monica Ostapczuk, Josephine Ho, Miranda Ho, Emmeline Fung-Smith, Bianca Fung, Garrett Luu; great-grandchildren, Valencia Au, Galliack Ostapczuk, Roderick Ostapczuk, Dominick Ostapczuk, Madison Truong, and many other family and friends. Trung was preceded in death by her parents, Lu Ly and VuongThi Ngo; husband, Moi Tran; sister, Tao Ly; brother, Chi Thanh Ly. She will be reunited with them and other family and friends. Trung will be remembered for her sacrifices and selflessness intaking care of so many with unconditional love, always putting others before herself. Her heart was larger than life. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts and memories. We feel extremely blessed to have you in our lives, and to have known you the way we did. You will never be forgotten. Trung’s family would like to thank Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care. Per Trung’s wish, the visitation service will be held at Drake & Son Funeral Home (5303 N Western Ave, Chicago, IL 60625) on April 9, 2021 at 10AM followed by a Buddhist Burial to be celebrated at 12PM Rosehill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society for cancer research. Online condolences may be made below.

Graveside Service will be held on April 9, 2021 at Rosehill Cemetery, 5800 North Ravenswood Ave, Chicago, IL.
