

Victorano Talavera, age 94, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on May 23, 2025 at home surrounded by family. Victorano was born on December 18, 1930 in Eden, Texas to the late Manuel and Manuela Talavera. He was married for 66 years to his beloved wife, the late Maria Talavera (Rodriguez).
Victorano was a flooring installer and owner/operator of S & M Carpets for over 40 years. Both his sons, his wife, and a number of grandsons worked with him in the family business. Prior to flooring, he worked at Republic Steel in South Chicago, and drove a Taxi. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was active in the American Legion.
Both Victorano and his wife were active members of Providence of God Catholic Church, and original members of The Sociedad Guadalupana, which served to honor Our Lady of Guadelupe and supported the church with their many activities. Victorano had a fondness for tinkering and was quite creative in his approach to problem solving.
Victorano was a devoted family man and is survived by his three children, Alicia (Marshall), Ricardo (Maria), and Fidel along with 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
A visitation for Victorano will be held Friday, May 30, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Malec & Sons Funeral Home, 6000 North Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60646. During this time prayers will take place at 5:30 pm. Final viewing and prayers will occur Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Malec and Sons Funeral Home. A funeral mass will occur Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St Bartholomew Catholic Church, 3601 N Lavergne Ave, Chicago, IL 60641. Following a graveside service will occur at Maryhill Catholic Cemetery, 8600 N Milwaukee Ave, Niles IL 60714.
