Walter J. Komarnicki

Walter J. Komarnicki, age 84, of Chicago, IL passed away peacefully Tuesday September 23, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Christine, his daughters Karen and Sherryl (David) and granddaughter Hailey. Walter was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Jane, his brother Chester and son Walter.

Walter graduated from Lane Tech High School in 1959 and then served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. Upon returning from the Army he went to Northwestern University where he studied Chemistry. Wally was a purchasing manager for several envelope companies until his retirement. After retirement, Walter enjoyed football (Chicago Bears), golfing and fishing with friends. He was also very dedicated and active in volunteering with many Veteran programs including Polish Legion of American Veterans (PLAV), American Legion, AMVETS, Combined Veterans Association (CVA), Catholic War Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Knights of Columbus, Veterans Assistance of Cook County (VAC), and Hines VA voluntary services food pantry.

Forever in our hearts, he will be greatly missed by all.

A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 10:00 AM until time of memorial service 11:00 AM at Malec & Sons Funeral Home, 6000 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60646. Inurnment ceremony with military honors will follow at Fort Sheridan National Cemetery, Vattman Road, Lake Bluff, IL 60044.
