William Gregory Goodwin was called home to God in the early morning hours of January 10th, 2017. Born on January 6th, 1975, Will came into the world just five minutes before his twin brother, Kevin. He was only 2 lbs and 13 ounces. Will learned tenacity right from the beginning. His wonderful spirit and inner strength enabled him to continue to battle a deadly form of Cancer. He never gave up hope or his positivity for life.
Will was passionate for sports. He loved the Detroit Lions, U of M’s Wolverines, and especially his beloved “Cubbies”. He was so excited to see his favorite team finally win the World Series.
Animals were another one of Will’s great passions. Whether a puppy or a kitten or any cuddly animal, Will was head over heels. Will could light up a room with his infectious smile and people were naturally drawn to him. He has touched the lives of countless individuals with his loving and giving personality, as evidenced by the hundreds of responses on Facebook to the announcement of his passing.
Will attended high school in Wayland, Michigan and went on to get his Bachelors degree at Southern Illinois University. Will went on to get his Masters degree at Phoenix University, all while serving in the Air Force and working a second job running security for the Baltimore Ravens football team.
Will spent 14 years serving our country in the Air Force. Will was truly passionate about his service and dedicated to giving his all as evidenced by his many awards and commendations. He also loved being able to travel to many parts of the world and experience different cultures and meet many people. Will left the service to join Kevin in Chicago. Will, Kevin, and their younger brother Jason created a residential real estate development company named Goody’s Development.
Will is survived by both of his parents, Bill Goodwin and Marie Fitzgerald, as well as his twin brother Kevin and his younger brother Jason.
