My heartfelt sympathies to the Stapka family. Bill was the quintessential political scientist. Also, known to few, Bill was an expert on coconuts!

Bill was pure Chicago. Chicago is made up off all kinds of people, but there are those that I call Characters of the Game. You could talk local politics for hours with him. He was an old school precinct captain who knew every voter in his precinct, and most of the 41st Ward personally. He was the definition of The City that Worked. If he showed up at your door at election time, you WANTED to talk with him.
He was selfless. He actually was the guy who would give you the shirt off his back.
He was truly devoted to his family and community.
He was a kind gentleman.
You could find him often at Norwood Park Little League games. He loved watching his kids. A great Dad.
I guess the 41st Ward political machine braintrust, Roman Pucinski, Bill and Judge Paul Stralka, are in Heaven today discussing Illinois Primary turnout.
A life well lead.
