Edgar D. "Dooney" Brooks - Childersburg - Funeral service for Edgar D. "Dooney" Brooks, 80 will be Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 2 p.m. Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel with the Ronnie Forbus officiating. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery with full military honors. Mr. Brooks passed away August 19, 2012 at Shelby Baptist Hospital in Alabaster. He was retired from the US Army serving in Vietnam and Korea. He also was a native of Talladega County. He spent a lot of his time doing auto repair. He worked at B & D Auto in Birmingham. He is survived by his wife, Wynell Brooks of Childersburg; daughter, Lisa Bryant of Childersburg; son, Michael Grier of Leeds; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Jennie Raye of Carrollton, GA; brother, Michael Dewayne Brooks of Mt. Olive, Al. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 21, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at the Childersburg Chapel.
