Born on August 10, 1938 in Allen, Alabama, Eloise was the daughter of James W. and Allie B. Hobgood. At the young age of 18, she married the love of her life, Charles Leonard Kelly, on June 29, 1957. Together they shared 65 years of devoted marriage, raising four children and building a family rooted in love, faith, and tradition.
Eloise was deeply devoted to her church and remained active in every congregation where she and Leonard lived. Since the 1970’s, she was a member at Calvary Baptist Church in Childersburg where she faithfully served in the choir and as the senior adult women’s Sunday School teacher for many years, touching the lives of many women through her wisdom, kindness, and faith.
A gifted seamstress and talented cook, Eloise used her hands and heart to serve others. Every Sunday she lovingly prepared dinner for her family after church, a tradition that created lasting memories for her children and grandchildren. She was a good neighbor, a faithful friend, and a strong competitor who loved playing card and board games. Her sense of humor, lively spirit, and gentle strength brought joy to all who knew her.
She is survived by her children: Brenda Edwards (Tony), Becky Callais (Darryl), Randy Kelly (Gina), and Tim Kelly (Tracie); her five grandchildren: Cortney Edwards (Zane Spraggins), Luke Kelly (Lainey), Morgan Runyan (Nick), Ryan Kelly (Brittany), and Mitch Kelly (fiancè Brady Johnson), eight great-grandchildren, and many friends who became like family. She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings, her husband, Charles Leonard Kelly, and her infant daughter, Cynthia Marie Kelly.
Eloise’s legacy of love, faith, and family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
