James “Jimmy” William Goins Jr., 71, passed away on October 11, 2026. Born October 20, 1954, in Burnsville, North Carolina. Jimmy spent his early years in Spruce Pine, NC, before moving to Alabama at the age of 9. He attended Childersburg High School and began working at just 12 years old—an early start that reflected a steady determination and a lifelong willingness to do what needed to be done. Jimmy was a resident of Childersburg, Alabama.
For more than 56 years, Jimmy devoted himself to the trucking industry. His long career was marked by endurance, pride in honest work, and the kind of reliability that others came to count on without question.
Jimmy shared 32 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Jerri Ann Goins. To those who knew them best, it was clear that Jimmy was Jerri Ann’s soulmate—devoted, affectionate, and steadfast. He was a great father and grandfather who loved his family dearly, and he carried that love openly, with warmth that drew people close and a presence that made gatherings feel complete.
Outside of work and family, Jimmy found joy in the things that brought people together: NASCAR, Alabama football, and riding his motorcycle. He especially loved spending time with friends on the Party Porch, where his easy charm and natural charisma turned ordinary moments into lasting memories. Jimmy lived life fully and in the moment, and his loving spirit left a lasting imprint on all who had the privilege of sharing time with him.
Jimmy also gave of himself through quiet, meaningful service. He delivered Alabama Childhood Food Solutions food to Birmingham, was a member of the Elk's Lodge, spent 17 years on the Fayetteville Water Board and donated to the Talladega Springs Senior Center—acts that reflected a generous heart and a sincere regard for the well-being of others.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Jerri Ann Goins; children, Eddie Goins (Lo), Tiffany Morris, Daniel Goins (Jennifer), and Brian Morris; grandchildren, Colby Goins, Logan Goins (Elizabeth), Rusty Goins, Gavin Goins (Alayna), Daylan Harris, Layla Harris, Seth Goins, and Destiny Goins; and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Sharon Sherbert (Steve), Karon Bowden, Keith Goins (Vickie), Padgette McGrady (Randy), and Shane Goins (Angie).
