

Funeral services for James Ray Hudson, age 88, will be Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 5PM at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel with Brother Clarence Denney officiating. Visitation will be from 3-5PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery. James went to be with his heavenly father on Tuesday, August 15, 2016, peacefully passing away at his residence. He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. He graduated from the University of Alabama and was an avid supporter of the Crimson Tide. James worked for the Pullman Standard Company for 32 years as the Manager of Personnel and Industrial Relations Department. In his spare time James was a sportsman who loved hunting and fishing. He appreciated the history of the region and collected many artifacts and studied the culture of Native Americans. James was devoted to his church and community giving of his time to improve the lives of others. He was a member of the CornerStone Church of Christ, Kiwanis Club of Childersburg, the Childersburg Historical Commission, and was secretary, treasurer of the Heritage Society that helped work to save the Kymulga Grist Mill. He was preceded in death by his father: James Clyde Hudson and his mother: Ann Frances Ray Hudson. James was survived by his wife Mary Frances Cliett Hudson who would have celebrated their 59th Wedding Anniversary on August 23rd., sons: James Cliett Hudson and wife Gina, Jamie “Doc” Hudson, grandchildren: Cassie Hudson Kelley, Amanda Hudson Matson, Frances Hudson, Marley Hudson and Luke Hudson, great grandchildren: Caleb, Joshua, and Lexi Kelley, Madilyn Albright and Kimber Matson. The family wishes to acknowledge the love and gentle caring that was provided to James during the last few years by Jo Ann Green and Ruth Murphy.
Pallbearers are Don Allegro, John Cleveland, Danny DeLoach, Steve DeLoach, Terry DeLoach, Junior Roberson, Luke Hudson and Caleb Kelley.
Honorary Pallbearers are Billy Atkinson, Ray Gardner, Robert Glasscock, Steve Howell, Sonny Landers, Mickey Long, Don Malone and Jesse Pugh.
Family will accept flowers or donation to the CornerStone Church of Christ.
