Peggy Annette Fortenberry Wood

Peggy Annette Fortenberry Wood, age 85, passed away peacefully at home in Oldsmar, Florida, on July 7, 2026. She was born on November 11, 1940, in Haleyville, Alabama, and lived in Childersburg, Alabama, until 2025.

Peggy will be remembered for being a devoted Christian and for her caring heart, strength, and the love she shared with her family and friends throughout her life. She touched many lives with her kindness and leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through those who knew her.

She is survived by her beloved son, John Gore (Teresa - wife), who will forever cherish her memory and the many moments they shared together. She has two grandsons, Josh Gore (Morgan - wife) and Mark Gore. She cherished her time with her great-grandsons, Teddy and Sullivan. She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Dean Fortenberry, brother Bobby Jack Millican, and husband Billy Joe Wood.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Peggy's life during funeral services at Curtis and Son Funeral Home in Childersburg, Alabama at 10 AM on July 16, 2026. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Fayetteville Methodist Church Cemetery, where she will be reunited with loved ones who have gone before her.

Though Peggy's earthly journey has come to an end, her memory will remain in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
