Shelia Joy Akin

A Graveside Service will be held at Greenhill Memorial Gardens, Old Sylacauga Highway, Childersburg, Alabama 35044, on May 4, 2026, at 11:00 am, and she will be laid to rest at Greenhill Memorial Gardens, Old Sylacauga Highway, Childersburg.  

Shelia is survived by her daughters, Candace Akin-Allen (Walter), Teresa Edge (Ronnie), and April Cleveland (Josh); her sons, Ronald Butts (Elizabeth) and Christopher Hitt; her sisters, Sherry Hudgins, Shewanda Parrett, and Vanessa Mathis; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell "Ronnie" Akin; her daughter, Sonya Akin; her brother, Joey Arnold; and her mother, Dorothy Daughtery.  

Pallbearers will be Walter Allen, Derrek Jones, David Jones, Leon Parrett, Austin Horsley, and TJ Grier.

Sheila was a devoted wife and mother who lived her life on her own terms. She was very loved and cherished. She was a strong woman. She had a marriage to Ronnie Akin that most people could only dream of having.
