Funeral service for William Rayfield, age 91, of Harpersville will be Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 11AM at Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Theo Perkins, Rev. Don Morris and Rev. Jeff Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Harpersville Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday December 3, 2021 from 5-8PM at the church. Mr. Rayfield passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Grandview Medical Center.
William retired from Kimberly Clark in 1992, where he grew and nurtured pine seedlings and shipped them all over the world. He accepted the calling into the ministry in 1973 and served in several churches in the area. One being Providence Baptist Church, where he grew up, met the love of his life, Dorothy, his wife for 71 years, and where he was ordained into the ministry. He coached little league baseball and was a house parent at the Alabama Sheriff’s Girls Ranch.
William’s other passion was community service. He was PTA president of Calera Elementary and Vincent Elementary School. He also served on the Harpersville City Council as Mayor Pro tempore and as a member of the water board. He served on the council for over 20 years, retiring in 2020 at the age of 90.
Everyone that met Bro. Rayfield loved him. He will be missed.
He is survived by his Wife: Dorothy Rayfield, Son: Preston Rayfield (Kathy), Daughters: Sandra Rose (Jim), Penny Rayfield, Cindy Rayfield, Grandchildren: Kris Saab (Gene), Ginger Fielding (Chris), Brett Rayfield, Buckley Rose (Amanda), Great Grandchildren: Bridget Fielding, Brooks Fielding, Bryant Fielding, Sisters: Wilma Morris, Jerusha Hamm and numerous nieces and nephews.
