Alexander Smith Thomson

The family of Alexander Smith Thomson

announces his passing on March 4, 2019

following a brief illness at the Chilliwack

General Hospital.

Alexander (Alex) Smith Thomson was born on

March 6th, 1943 in Glasgow Scotland to

Alexander and Julia Thomson. Alex married

Ruby McLarty in 1965 and together with their

two children Lynn and John, immigrated to

Chilliwack BC in July 1974. Their daughter

Amanda was born the following year in

Chilliwack.

Alex is survived by his three children Lynn

(Jean-Guy) Richard, John (Lee-ann) Thomson,

and Amanda (Jason) Guenther, grandchildren

Samantha (Nick) Dawe, Justin Richard, Kailyn

& Karsen Guenther, Xander Thomson, and

great-granddaughter Esmé Dawe. Sister Cathy

(Danny) Martin, brother David (Ann) Thomson.

Four step children Lisa (Rob) Koppert, Cathie

Roos, Geraldine (Matthew) Van Herk, Joe (Elly)

Kerkhoff as well as numerous grand children,

great grand children, and nieces and nephews

from the Thomson, Kerkhoff, and Wierks

families. Alex was predeceased by his

parents, his second wife Lia Thomson, sister

Mary, and a brother Charles.

Alex was a skilled mason who’s work took him

to many a job-site throughout the province of

BC. He loved to read and was a man of few

words.

At Alex’ request there will be no visitation or

funeral service, a private internment of his

ashes will take place at a later date.
