Al passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Al will be forever missed by his wife Suzanne, step-daughters Lindsay (Brydon) and baby Mikayla, Teri (Michelle), his father John (Bonnie & step-brother Tom), brothers Steve (Margaret and nephews Steven & Family, Kevin & Family), and Ken (nieces Mackenzie & Zoe), sister Joan (Brent), step-father Jim Sendall, and his loyal friend Libby. Al is predeceased by his mother Lorraine Sendall in December 2008
Al was born in Brandon, Manitoba and moved to Victoria in 1966. Al grew up in South Fairfield and attended Sir James Douglas Central, then graduated from Victoria High. Al started working at Doman’s after school, at the age 15 (West Fraser, Revelstoke, Rona) and spent almost 40 years working in the building supply industry working his way to a management position. Al loved working on home renovation projects and the excellence of his workmanship is evident in any project he took on. Al loved fishing, tying his own flies, and riding his Kawasaki (Connie). Al will be greatly missed by his family, friends, co-workers and all who knew him for his quiet manner, sense of humor and dedication.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Agassiz at the Fraser River Lodge, 7984 McDonald Road, Agassiz, BC, on June 8, 2013 from 3 – 5:00. A gathering of family and friends will be held in Victoria on June 15, 2013, at the Chateau Victoria, 740 Burdett Ave, in the Harbour Room from 1-4.
