Allan Alfred "Lawrence" Joiner passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, in the ICU at Chilliwack General Hospital, with his family grateful for the compassionate care provided by the doctors and nurses.
Lawrence was born and raised in Chilliwack, where he received his education and developed a strong foundation in agriculture and farm mechanics. After graduating in 1957, he formed a partnership with his father, Charlie, establishing the C & A Mink Ranch. This early venture marked the beginning of a lifelong dedication to farming and entrepreneurship.
From a young age, Lawrence had a deep appreciation for rural life and the outdoors. He was actively involved in 4H and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his horse. His passion for riding led him to become a member of both the Chilliwack Junior Riding Club and later the Senior Riding Club.
In 1961, Lawrence married Joan Finch, and together they built a life centered on family and hard work, raising four sons. As the family grew, so did the business. Lawrence, along with his sons Allan, Brad and Doug, expanded the family operations into a successful company, while his son Craig pursued a career as a pilot.
Through Lawrence’s foresight, determination, and tireless work ethic, the family acquired several additional farms. What began as fields producing vegetable crops for local canneries eventually grew into a well-known and trusted source for “Joiner’s Corn.”
In 1980, Lawrence fulfilled a lifelong dream with the purchase of the 16,000-acre OK Ranch, located west of Clinton. He spent many fulfilling years developing the ranch into a thriving and successful enterprise, taking great pride in its growth and success.
Lawrence was predeceased by his parents, Charlie and Amy Joiner; his sister, Ethel (Keith) Massie; and his brother, Gwyn (Diane) Joiner.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Joan; his sons, Allan, Brad, Craig and Doug; his 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 25, from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. at the Chilliwack Curling Club.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
