Antonio “Tony” Joseph Guimond passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026, in Chilliwack, British Columbia, at the age of 96, surrounded by the love of his family. Tony was born on January 29, 1930, in Les Hauteurs, Quebec. He spent the majority of his life in Hinton, Alberta, where he built not only a career, but a legacy of hard work, resilience, and devotion to his family.
He is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 64 years, Yvette Guimond; his daughter Maxime Aldred (Tracy) and their children, Alix-Marie Aldred and Paige Aldred; and his daughter Debbie Garcia (Rob) and their children, Vashti Garcia, Dallas Visagie, and Connor Visagie (Courtnay) as well as his three great-granddaughters. He also leaves behind the entire Guimond clan, extended family and friends alike, who will deeply miss his presence, his stories, and the warmth he brought to every gathering.
Tony was a man of many trades and talents, holding dual tickets in mechanics and welding. Over the years, he worked in logging, construction, and land development, eventually forging his own path through Guimond Construction, helping shape the future of Hinton, Alberta. He was known for his strong work ethic and his ability to build not just structures, but a life for those around him.
He had a deep love for classic cars, fishing, and cheering on the Montreal Canadiens. But above all, Tony was a man of action and heart, earning a medal of bravery after rescuing a fellow Hintonite who was trapped beneath a 40-foot high pile of logs at the Hinton Pulp Mill.
To his family, he was more than his accomplishments. He will be remembered for his warm smile and the mischievous glint in his eye, the kind that hinted at a joke, a story, or a bit of well-earned trouble. He was the kind of man who created memories that will live on through generations, in both big and simple ways.
Tony will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his courage, his craftsmanship, his spirit, and the quiet, steady love he gave to his family.
