IN LOVING MEMORY FOR MY BROTHER ARMAND

Armand Gauthier was my oldest brother. Armand lived a long and successful life. 

He loved birds, plants and flowers and was very knowlegeable of their names. 

He enjoyed outdoor yard work and for many years he kept a very neat and tidy yard at his home at 45597 Watson Road...excellent gardener and beautiful flowers.

He enjoyed going out for a walk or for a bike ride and we did this together. Once, he and I took a long bike ride on the new bike path along the Vedder River. 

Armand was inspired by artistry. 

He was a very good PHOTOGRAPHER and showed us many slide shows. He loved to travel and take pictures. 

He was also a good ARTIST and many surviving siblings have some of his excellent paintings hanging in their homes.

He was also an excellent and well known MUSICIAN. He played the mandolin, the guitar and the violin. He played with an orchestra in Chilliwack for senior citizens for many years. Often, when we had family gatherings, he would play music with some of my other siblings. 

Armand loved to travel. He would like to have traveled more. 

He loved driving his Volkswagen cars...and nothing but… always got them repaired at Beck Motors.

 He loved to drive long distances to the Prairie Provinces where we were born.

He also liked to play chess. I played chess with him several times earlier in his life. We enjoyed the few games we played together.

He started work in Yellowknife in the mining industry. Later, he worked at a sawmill North of Kamploops. For many years, he was a janitor for the Chilliwack School Board at Watson Elementary School...until he retired.

He helped our family greatly. 

He bought a 5 acre fruit farm on Watson Road for our family where we moved in 1955 from Bluefield, Saskatchewan near Hudson Bay Junction. For a 9 year old boy that I was then, it was almost as exciting as a young boy today going to Disneyland. Electricity…WOW!

He helped finance my way through university which I greatly appreciated.

He will be sadly missed by all his siblings and I am sure by many in the community in Sardis and Chilliwack where he lived for many years.

In Loving Memory of Uncle  Armand. He was the best uncle any niece or nephew could have. I have fond memories of him and Aunty Estelle getting together at Christmases, Easters, Birthdays and many others occasions. We would have wonderful meals at Aunty Estelle and Uncle Armand's we had good times together. Uncle Armand  would play music with my dad, play Chinese Checkers and cards with my Brother Guy and I, he also would make up games at Christmas that we would play, he would drive Aunty Estelle anywhere she wanted to so they could meet up with our family for dinners, shopping and even coming to our cabin in Point Roberts once every summer where Uncle Armand would again play music with my dad, take walks to the beach, paint us a picture with watercolor  every summer he came. He would also go look at the local artwork at the various galleries in Point Roberts and even purchase a piece of art or two. 

Uncle Armand was easy to talk to, very patience, kind, very hospitable always making us a special drink  when we arrived there, an avid, gardener, his gardens were wonderful,  a very talented musician playing his mandolin and guitar everyday and he painted beautiful painting too. 

He will be sadly missed by all of us especially Aunty Estelle who was the love of her life for almost 43 years. Those two were inseparable, whether it was helping each other out with the gardening and yard work, looking after their house, with cooking meals, or canning  or just going on outings togethers. They too had good times together. 

I will never forget Uncle Armand he was a great man and I was lucky to have him as an Uncle. 

Rest in Peace Uncle Armand, you are with the Angels now.

Will very much miss Armand.  He was a big help to me when I was studying to be a Secular Franciscan.  He was always a wonderful Franciscan and I loved his music ministry within our Fraternity. Well Armand from one Franciscan to another I will just say what we always say, Pax et Bonum, and peace and joy. Uncle Armand inspired me by his modesty, gentleness, intelligence and artistic talents.  I have mainy fond memories of holiday dinners in Uncle Armand and Aunty Estelle's home.  Always plenty of good food, festive music and lots of laughter.  I feel very honoured to have spent part of my life with such a wonderful man.  Rest in Peace Uncle Armand.  Peace be with you Aunty Estelle and Armand's brothers and sisters.
