It was with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Barbara Bishop, on September 3, 2025, at age 95. She was born on May 10, 1930, in Upchurch, England, to Albert and Adelaid Lowes, and lived a life filled with joy, laughter, and kindness.
More than anything Barb's life was defined by the deep and unbreakable bonds she forged with those around her. She was the beloved wife of Bill Bishop for 62 years, and their partnership was a beautiful example of a loving marriage, enduring commitment, and a life filled with warmth, laughter, and joy.
One of her greatest joys was raising her children, Kevin Bishop (Gayle Bishop) and Julie Pariseau (Peter Schreurs). She delighted in celebrating special holidays such as birthdays, Christmas, Easter and especially Halloween (she never missed the chance to dress up). She loved and celebrated her grandchildren, Vincent Godman (Shara Godman), Hope Bishop, Sydney Spencer (Jamie Spencer), Aaron William Pariseau (Jason Stromberg), Joanna Barbara Pariseau (Dan Zubel), Ryan Schreurs, Shannon Heinrich (Calen Heinrich), and Robby Schreurs (Sandra Allard). She deeply loved her 11 great grandchildren Blake Godman, Sonja Godman-Reitz, Scarlett & Audrey Spencer, Lincoln, Phoebe & Ember Godman, Oliver and Levi Heinrich and Lola and Jude Zubel. Although she loved her grandchildren, she had a particularly deep and special relationship with her grandson Aaron and his spouse Jason. Together, they enjoyed Sunday breakfast, drag queen performances, and countless other adventures. She will also be missed by her great-nephew Brian Zens and his wife, Crystal Zens who held a special place in her heart.
She cultivated lasting friendships, always offering a listening ear, a big hug and engaging in quick witted banter. She had a special relationship with her dear friend Evelyn, they shared laughter, tears, and humor. Barb touched countless lives and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her whether it was the staff at the Corner Nook, friendships developed at Forest Lawn Seniors Center (Calgary, AB), Promontory Estates (Chilliwack, BC) and Chartwell Lynnwood Retirement Residences (Chilliwack).
Barb was a progressive woman who was never afraid to try new things, have an adventure and give out free hugs while always maintaining a strong connection to her proper English roots. She loved a good joke, cheering on her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and sharing a secret joke with best friend Evelynn. She will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege to know her and those who briefly crossed her path. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday October 11, 2025 from 1:00pm-3:00pm at Lynwood 9168 Corbould Street, Chilliwack, BC.
