

Barbara Alice Jarvis (nee Shiels), 80, of Chilliwack, passed away on November 8, 2023 from cancer. Barb was very accepting of her diagnosis and was able to live all of her last months in the comfort of her home in the presence of family and friends. She passed away at home with family by her side.
Barb was born on April 18, 1943 in Tisdale, SK to Albert and Alice. The family moved to Prince George where she received her education. It was in high school that she met her husband, Warner, and they were blessed with 3 children. The young family moved to Kamloops and then to Houston in 1973.
Barb was predeceased by her father Albert in 1997, her loving husband (of 34 years) Warner in 1997, and her mother Alice (Nanny) in 2013.
Barb is survived by her brothers Dennis (Wanda), Eric (Betty-Ann), children Brent (Carol), Leanne (Barry) and Darren (Karen). She is also survived by 7 grandchildren Sarah (Shane), Lyndsay, Nolan (Chelsea), Moira (Zane), Aaron, Kathlyn, Dawson and 7 great grandchildren.
Barb was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. Barb was a very active Life Member of the Catholic Women’s League and enjoyed many friendships through more than 55 years. She remained unwavering in her faith. Barb enjoyed camping, curling, card playing, knitting prolifically (gifts which were appreciated by many), cross stitching, baking, reading, travelling (especially cruises with lifelong friend Gayle) and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. She became very involved with documenting her travels and memories through scrapbooking. Barb also loved spending time with family and friends and creating memories this way too.
Barb will be fondly missed by all that knew her.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 8909 Mary Street, in Chilliwack, BC on November 21, 2023 at 1 pm.
Cremation to follow. Interment with her husband in Houston, BC in 2024.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
