In the last 5 months she had suffered through incredible pain and then survived Covid-19 plus two strokes. She passed away peacefully at Tabor Home in Clearbrook.
Barbara Jean Sindall was born to Albert Victor and Jean (Stewart) Sindall on May 17, 1932 in Hamilton, Ontario. She was the second youngest in a family of 6 children. She lost her mother when she was 6 years old and was raised by her brothers. Her oldest brother Carson become the father figure the family needed and he always looked out for her. Mom left home early to start working in factories, making parts for sewing machines. She met Ivor Walker and they picked January 7, 1953 as the date they would begin their life together. They left Ontario in 1957 to start a new life in Vancouver, BC. They travelled by car, a Volkswagon Beetle, while Barbara was almost 9 months pregnant and their first child Patti was born just after they arrived. The family moved to Yarrow where 3 more children Kathy, Shelley and Michael arrived and then to Greendale where their last child David was born.
Mom was always an avid reader, her favorite reading material was anything about the royal family. She was creative and artistic which explained her loveable craziness. She embroidered doilies, enjoyed drawing, loved to help with creative school projects and enjoyed baking. She was a caring special person who worried that everyone she knew was doing well and having a good time. She loved to send cards to celebrate holidays and special events usually filled with a little cash or a money order. Mom especially loved her grandchildren, she spent countless hours helping with homework, playing cards, reading to them and teaching them how to draw and color.
Mom moved into Crystal Ridge Manor, which changed her life. She made friends, enjoyed the special events and became an avid puzzle helper with her friend Phyllis. Special thank you to Margaret Kostrzewa and the staff at Crystal Ridge Manor for making this her very special home.
Barbara is survived by her brothers George and Glenn Sindall and children Patti (Doug) Lawn, Kathy Walker, Shelley (Gord) Turner, David (Christine) Walker.
Her grandchildren Amy (Christopher) Derksen, Sean Brannick, Angelica (Julian)
Samoisette, Stephen Lawn (Krista Harley), Michael Lawn (Brittany Corwin), Jordan (Larisssa) Walker, Christopher Walker, James Walker and 5 great grandchildren Amaraya, Hunter, Rylee, Judah and Miriam.
Predeceased by husband Ivor Walker, son Michael Walker, brothers Carson Sindall, William Sindall, and John Sindall.
Mom didn’t want a “fuss” so there will be no service. She would want you to be happy and every time you have a blueberry muffin think of her!
