Christine Theresia Demers

Christa was born and raised in Germany and moved to Canada as a young military wife. Chilliwack was her home since 1974, and she was a resident of Eden Care Center for the last 7 years. She passed away in her sleep with family by her side. Christa will be missed by her 4 children: sons Claude Demers (Wendy), and Peter Demers (Gisele), daughters Cathleen Martin (Alen) and Sonja Andrews (David), 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Christa spent 28 years working in the kitchens of the Harrison Hot Springs Resort Hotel, finishing as a pastry chef. Her retirement years were spent gardening, taking long walks, travelling to Germany to visit family, and (thankfully!) hopping back and forth across Canada to visit grandchildren.

Services will be held at St. Mary’s Church 10am on Thursday, July 18th (viewing at 0915), followed by a graveside service at Chilliwack Cemeteries.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Chilliwack Animal Safe Haven. Special thanks to the wonderful, hardworking staff at Eden Care Center, who tirelessly tended to our mother’s care and treated her with grace and dignity to the very end. Gratitude also to the caring staff at Woodlawn Funeral Service for guiding us through this difficult time.
