Harold grew up in Burnaby, and enlisted in the army during the early years of WW II, serving with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps-2nd Army Division, taking part in the European Campaign and the eventual liberation of Holland in 1945. Returning home in 1946, he quickly made arrangements for his fiancé, Gladys, from Nottingham, England, who he had met while on leave at the end of the War, to join him in Canada. Harold and Gladys were married on February 15, 1947 and made their home on Springer Ave., Burnaby. Harold was a partner in Ross and Kerr Customs Brokers in Vancouver, and later worked with Milne and Craighead Customs Brokers before retiring in his early 60s. Harold loved his home, garden, friends, and especially his family. Harold's strong Christian faith directed all aspects of his life, and he leaves a wonderful legacy of faithfulness, integrity, and kindness to all. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Eden Care Home for their special care of Harold in his last years. A service to celebrate his life will take place on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Timothy's Anglican Church, 4550 Kitchener Street, Burnaby. In memory of Harold, donations may be made to the Union Gospel Mission, Vancouver, BC.
